I could not log in (and contribute) to Automation’s Gitea forge, since I had no account and could not find a way to register there. After contacting Jens, he confirmed that registration was not enabled, and that this was basically intentional, explaining that he wanted to avoid spam and prefers email. Nevertheless, he offered to create an account for me, and did after I proposed a username.
One thing I suggest, given that it is unusual for CBPP projects to disable registration to their forge, is to indicate that explicitly on the forge. Putting a notice like the following at least on the authentication page could avoid confusion:
Perhaps the message could point to this topic, which could serve as a channel for those who still want to request a manual account creation.Registration to this website is intentionally disabled.
